Pour cette nouvelle collaboration avec Cassina, il était important pour moi de comprendre le contexte et l’héritage de cette marque emblématique du design italien, de Magistretti a Ponti. Mon intention était de concevoir un fauteuil de détente, qui respecte les traditions classiques tout en y mélangeant des influences nouvelles.
Parmi l’ensemble des projets dessinés, nous commençons cette année avec l’introduction de P22. Un fauteuil accueillant et confortable, au design intemporel, qui se remarque aussi par son aspect moderne. Un repose-pieds assorti, qui sert aussi de pouf, permet de se détendre et de se relaxer.

Dimensions : fauteuil 79x87xh.112/41 cm, pouf / repose-pieds 61x46xh.41 cm.
Structure : mousse de polyuréthane.
Châssis : fer avec des sangles élastiques.
Piétement : fonte d’aluminium.
Revêtement : tout en cuir ; tout en tissu ; 5 combinaisons avec l’extérieur en cuir ou tissu et l’intérieur en tissu. Le revêtement est déhoussable grâce à une fermeture éclair élégante et discrète qui fait le tour du fauteuil.

For this new collaboration with Cassina, it was important for me to understand the context and legacy of this emblematic brand of Italian design, from Magistretti to Ponti. My intention was to design a relaxation chair that upholds classic traditions while adding modern influences.
Among the projects, we will be introducing this year the P22, an inviting and comfortable armchair with a timeless design. Its modern look makes it stand out. A matching footrest that doubles as a pouf provides total relaxation.


Measurements: armchair: 79cm L x 87cm W x 112cm H – pouf: 61cm L x 46cm W x 41cm H
Frame: polyurethane foam
Chassis: iron with elastic straps
Legs: cast aluminum
Upholstery: available in all leather, all fabric, or five mix-and-match combinations with the outer shell in leather or fabric and the inner shell in fabric. The covering can be removed thanks to an elegant-looking and discreet zipper that goes around the chair.

« In the pocket » est la nouvelle montre d'Hermès. D’une grande originalité, elle est le fruit de ma rencontre avec cette grande maison dont je partage la passion pour la rigueur et la minutie des manufacturiers d’exception.

Trois épaisseurs de cuirs composent le boucleteau et le sanglon: veau Barénia, un cuir pleine fleur sans finissage, naturel et vivant ; un renfort intérieur en vache, peau choisie pour sa robustesse ; et une doublure en veau Zermatt.
D’abord la coupe : les peaux sont trempées puis moulées dans une matrice. Elles sèchent ainsi durant 10 jours avant d’être découpées à la pointe, refendues, poncées et collées. Chacune des parties est alors partiellement cousue. Le boucleteau est perforé pour libérer l’espace qui permettra de voir le cadran et ceux qui laisseront passer le sanglon ainsi que la couronne. Ensuite la table : boucleteau et sanglon sont alors réunis puis marqués au compas, griffés et cousus selon la technique du cousu-sellier. Place enfin au finissage : martelage de la couture, filetage, teinture et astiquage à la cire d’abeille… Patiemment, opération après opération, les artisans de la Montre Hermès ont développé « In The Pocket », hommage à l’ancrage horloger de la maison.

'In the Pocket' is the new watch by Hermès. Thoroughly original, it is the fruit of my encounter with this major brand with wich I share a passion for the high standards and meticulousness of exceptional manufacturers.

Three layers of leather make up the boucleteau and the sanglon : Barenia calfskin, a fine, unfinished leather, both natural and alive ; an inner reinforcement made of cow skin chosen for its sturdiness ; and a Zermatt calfskin for the lining. First comes the cutting process : the skins are soaked then molded in a dye. They are allowed to dry like this for ten days before being cut with a pointed tool, split again, sanded and glued. Each piece is then partially sewn. The boucleteau is perforated to accommodate a slot for the dial, one for the sanglon to pass through, and one for the crown. Then comes the 'table' phase : the boucleteau and the sanglon are then put together, marked with a compass, stamped with the brand name and sewn, using the saddle stitch technique. The last phase is the finishing which involves hammering the stitches, creasing, dyeing, and polishing with beeswax. Patiently, one operation after another, the artisans of La Montre Hermès developed 'In the Pocket', an homage to the brand's watchmaking roots.
